Reading Bed & Breakfast

Reading Abbey

Reading is a large town (one of the largest in the country) situated at the confluence of the River Thames and River Kennet, in the county of Berkshire, England. The town's history goes back to the 8th century and it is mentioned in the Domesday Book as having a population of about 600 but by the end of the 16th century it had grown to over 3,000. The 18th and 19th centuries saw industrialisation with the iron and brewing industries being prominent. Agriculture has always been important in the area and Reading developed into an important market town. Today both business and agriculture remain strong and therefore the town benefits from excellent transport links making it a superb place to stay if you want to explore elsewhere in Berkshire and England.
